My Hands

I’ve spent a week teaching classes focusing on the hands and wrists, inspired by the concept of the emotional body and how it relates to our lives, experiences and patterns - and what hands represent in particular. They can represent understanding, gentleness, the capacity to hold on to what one has achieved, to give and receive tenderness. And also potentially inflexibility and a feeling of undervaluation. Physically, hands hold, grip, release, put down, pick up, caress, draw close and push away. They represent ways of dealing with our experiences. And in the midst of a global pandemic, with so much uncertainty, we are having fears, anxieties and triggers appearing and reappearing because there’s so little certainty. At times it may feel like there’s not much to can hold onto with our hands with any certainty.
